On this Mother’s Day, I hope we get to put our feet up. I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking about moms and all of the roles we wear every day. While wearing my “work” hat over the years, I’ve found myself in situations that have reinforced important “life” lessons. In particular, to count on the fact that something will always go wrong. And, conversely, if I remain calm in the situation and flexible on my feet, hopefully a lot of things will go just right. How did I put this learning to the test at two recent shows? Last October, I was at a fundraiser for a local organization, Stepping Out for Breast Cancer, when a reporter from the Baltimore Sun introduced himself. It all started when I went out to get the mail and found a copy of “Looking Good” Magazine in the mailbox. Much to my surprise, the First Lady of Maryland, Yumi Hogan, was featured on the cover in a beautiful aqua dress and... one of my necklaces! What's new you ask? A group of local artists have just opened a new store called Local By Design. Where is it? Downtown Annapolis right on Main Street. What? Yes. Really.
