Happy Spring Everyone!
Spring is officially here, and we are so happy to see the daffodils blooming and the weather a bit warmer. And now that the sun is setting a little later, we get to enjoy being outside a while longer in the evenings.
We just finished up a successful season of shows in the Florida Keys. It was a much-needed change of scenery to get us out of the winter blues and get me ready for all the shows I will be attending this spring and summer. In between shows I got to do a bit of relaxing, fishing, paddle boarding & eating some delicious food.
This past weekend I attended one of my favorite events of the year -- the Annual Oyster Roast and Sock Burning at the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park. It is a celebration of the spring equinox and the beginning of boating season by burning our winter-worn socks. The sock burning is a local tradition that dates back to the 1970s. There was live music by local bands, and oysters made in so many ways! Who doesn’t love that? And all the proceeds from this event will benefit the Annapolis Maritime Museum and Park’s award-winning educational programs.
The best part was that I was asked me to escort our First Lady, Mrs. Yumi Hogan around for the afternoon. She is such a pleasure to be with! She wore the earrings I made for her. It is such a great honor & pleasure to make some of her custom jewelry! She showed the earrings to her husband, the Governor and said to him "You know Laura...she makes my jewelry." His response was "Well great! One less thing I have to worry about!" :-)
Our next big show is the Eastern Shore Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival. It will be held on April 2nd & 3rd in St. Michael's. This is a GREAT show! Make sure to get your tickets now! It's never too early to start planning what you want to get your mother, or the mother to your children for Mother’s Day. With supply-chain issues it’s best to be prepared!
